Me

Hi!  My name is Dee Penney.  As the webmaster here, I'd like to let you know a little about me.  I'm a new widow, currently a night security officer at a local paving firm, and I rescue reptiles in my spare time, primarily alligator and non-venomous snakes from horrified homeowners!

I am a dedicated conservationist, and I am a fan of Animal Planet, and a dedicated poster and member of several forums and post sites.  (see Links).  I am a member of the National Wildlife Federation, Defenders of Nature, The Nature Conservancy, The Environmental Defense Fund, The Ocean Conservancy, The American Humane Association, and the World Wildlife Fund.

I want to encourage everybody to help save wild things, no matter what species they are!!!

Our sanctuary is not a non-profit as of yet, and we DO NOT solicit or accept donations.

The History Of Terra Mau

Terra Mau Sanctuary was started in 1990 as a way of keeping feral domestic cats from preying on wild animals such as birds and other animals.  We have come to feel that  neutering or spaying cats and returning them to the areas they came from does help to keep the numbers down.  We keep the ones we cannot socialize, or those with serious health issues, in our humane shelter, loved and cared for physically and mentally, for as long as they live...in some cases, we have had them live as long as twenty years!  Those we can, we adopt out to loving families, who promise to keep them indoors forever!

This way, we believe both sides, wild and not, win!

Remember We Can Save..Or Destroy!

I believe that everyone who is on the planet needs to have the welfare of the wild things in mind as they go about their everyday lives.  The links I have included on the links page are for sites I have personally visited, or belong to, or highly recommend to you who want to do your part to save the wild things! Remember, it is up to each of us to make the choices which will benefit or destroy every living thing on the planet.

As H.D. Thoreau said, "In wildness is the preservation of the world..."  I firmly believe this.  Without the wild, we have no hope of saving ourselves.
